Hello Friends, Here we are on the brink of another season and we are feeling the sense of cozy, slow evenings on the horizon. The girls pulled out our tote of fall decorations last weekend and we are starting to find some fun pumpkin recipes to try. Last night we made a pumpkin ice cream, while I thought it was very tasty, some thought it had a little too much spice. We will have to try it again soon with a little less pumpkin pie spice. One recipe everyone is anxiously awaiting for me to make is pumpkin rolls. When I was a teenager, we went to Alabama to visit my grandparents over summer break and I had my grandma teach me how to make them. I have since made soooo many pumpkin rolls, it simply wouldn't be fall without them making an appearance. The recipe for this fall time favorite, along with many more recipes, can be found in my book , The Simple Homestead. It's available for download here https://brinkerfamilyfarm.com/product/the-simple-homestead-ebook/โ ๐ I also wanted to share Young Livings Fall Bundle. I love this collection because fall is a season of transition. Our routines change. We spend more time indoors. School starts, schedules fill up, daylight becomes shorter, and many of us notice changes in our mood, energy, sleep, and overall wellness. ๐ Orange is naturally rich in limonene, a constituent studied for its antioxidant activity and its ability to support a positive mood. ๐ฟ Bergamot contains linalool, linalyl acetate, and limonene. These constituents have been studied for their calming effects and their ability to support relaxation and a healthy stress response. ๐ฐ Nutmeg is naturally warming aroma pairs perfectly with the heavier meals and slower pace that often come with fall. ๐งก Clove is rich in eugenol, one of the most researched constituents in essential oils. Eugenol is known for its antioxidant properties and has long been valued for supporting oral health, cleansing, and seasonal wellness. ๐ค Vanilla brings warmth and comfort. Many of us have fun memories of baking with vanilla and can enjoy the coziness this oil. ๐ Christmas Spirit combines Orange, Cinnamon Bark, and Black Spruce to create more than a holiday scent. Together they offer a blend that feels uplifting and cozy. This is a favorite to have on hand for the next several months! I've also included some recipe collections so you can start using these oils right away. And don't overlook the bottle of Thievesยฎ Household Cleaner that comes in the bundle. It's one of the most used products in my home. My favorite everyday cleaner for fall is incredibly simple: ๐ Fill a 16 oz spray bottle with water. ๐ Add 1 capful of Thieves Household Cleaner. ๐ Add 5 drops of your favorite Fall Bundle essential oil (or blend a couple together). That's it! Now every time you wipe down your counters, kitchen table, bathroom, or high-touch surfaces, you'll enjoy all the cozy aromas of fall while cleaning your home. My hope is that this collection helps your home not only smell incredible this season, but also creates simple daily routines that make your home feel cleaner, cozier, and more intentional. I'd love to know...which recipe are you making first? ๐ If you decide to order and it's your first time, you can use code SHAREYL for 10% off your first order. Hello Friends, August has been a pretty wet one around here. In the last 8 days we have had over 5 inches of rain, with 1.7 inches last night. As I write this I'm watching it rain again. We have been busy with bottle calves (that story is in the newsletter below), along with helping some neighbors with their chores. Bo is off work until Thanksgiving as he recovers from bicep surgery in June. We are truly enjoying our extra time with our favorite guy โค๏ธ. As the month continues on we will be...
Hello Friends, ๐ It's hard to believe we are at the end of July. Summer never feels long enough for me. I just start to get into a groove and then I notice some change of color to a few trees, a coolness to the air and the sun is not waking us as early. Tis the cycle of seasons. This ever changing feeling comes in many forms, from the change of seasons, to the changes in our children (bless their heart, growing up can be hard), a momma needs to always remember to watch the gate. Last week was...
Hello Friends, Happy 4th of July ๐ I hope you are all having a wonderful weekend celebrating our countries 250th Independence Day. Bo has been busily baling hay and is almost finished. Once that's done we will be right into fair week then it will feel like we can relax and enjoy summer. The kids and I have been planting seeds into little pockets of the garden and flower beds. Next up we will be resetting the hoop house. Most of our spring crops are done now, I have a few red beets I'm letting...
