Hello Friends, 👋 It's hard to believe we are at the end of July. Summer never feels long enough for me. I just start to get into a groove and then I notice some change of color to a few trees, a coolness to the air and the sun is not waking us as early. Tis the cycle of seasons. This ever changing feeling comes in many forms, from the change of seasons, to the changes in our children (bless their heart, growing up can be hard), a momma needs to always remember to watch the gate. Last week was our county fair, two of our girls are in 4 H. They had a great time, very tired by the end, and we only had one time that an animal ran out of the gate. I was watching Eliza show her second lamb, as it was time to leave the arena I saw the lamb want to take off. I almost got to her to give her the halter when he slipped through her fingers. Thankfully, a gentleman grabbed him before the lamb took off through the fair. Gatekeeping is a full time job. Just when you think you can give it some slack, that is the perfect time for things to slip through the cracks. Sometimes it doesn't cause any harm right away, other times you quickly realize the harm it can cause and try to shut it fast. This life we live is full of ups and downs. As long as we don't let our gates stay fully open or closed too long , I think we can continue to learn and grow. We can't stay fully open or sealed closed forever. We need to have those opportunities to open the gate and learn. That is something I have been feeling a lot lately. Maybe our gate was open a little too far lately and we need to shut it a bit. Regain our composer and then try again. That's the beauty of a gate, it has hinges to allow us to open and close as much as we need for the seasons we are in. In other news, I have been feeling some callings and am excited to share them with you.Once a month, I am hosting a Dwell in the Well Women's Bible Study. This is bringing so much joy into my heart and our home. I have had this stirring for a while and am so grateful for the ladies that are coming beside me and learning with me. The next Bible Study will be Wednesday, August 19th. If you are interested, feel free to reach out so I can share additional details. I also have some workshops planned for the next few months. The first one will be Sat, Aug ,8th from 10-12pm at our home. We will be walking around our property and discussing 10+ herbs that are growing right in our flower beds and gardens. This workshop will include worksheets, a booklet and a herb to take home. If you are interested in this joining this class, feel free to email me julie@brinkerfamilyfarm.com and I'll send you additional information. Hello Friends, August has been a pretty wet one around here. In the last 8 days we have had over 5 inches of rain, with 1.7 inches last night. As I write this I'm watching it rain again. We have been busy with bottle calves (that story is in the newsletter below), along with helping some neighbors with their chores. Bo is off work until Thanksgiving as he recovers from bicep surgery in June. We are truly enjoying our extra time with our favorite guy ❤️. As the month continues on we will be...
Hello Friends, Happy 4th of July 🎇 I hope you are all having a wonderful weekend celebrating our countries 250th Independence Day. Bo has been busily baling hay and is almost finished. Once that's done we will be right into fair week then it will feel like we can relax and enjoy summer. The kids and I have been planting seeds into little pockets of the garden and flower beds. Next up we will be resetting the hoop house. Most of our spring crops are done now, I have a few red beets I'm letting...
Hello Friends, As I write this I am sitting in a couple waiting rooms. How is that possible? Most people can only be in one place at one time. Well, my physical body is waiting on Bo to finish up with surgery on his arm. It's been a crazy few weeks leading up to today. Hurry up and wait kind of crazy. We haven't talked too much about today, it caused us both some anxiety. It was better to keep busy and do more. It was easier that way. It reminds me of my c section in 2022. As I was in the...
